A Coach is a person who is your friend, someone who really cares about you. A coach is committed to helping you be the best that you can be. A coach will challenge you, not let you off the hook.

A life-coach supports you in getting clarity on what you want, what you need to do and how to move forward in different areas of your life. Some people go to a life-coach to get more clarity around career choices they are planning to make, others want to improve relationships with the people around them, yet others want to work on learning how to deal better with emotions and feelings like anger, fear, anxiety or sadness.
Life-coaching can also help when wanting to change behaviors, such as procrastination, unhealthy life style choices, learning to set boundaries, developing kindness, compassion and self-love.
A coach has a wide array of tools and techniques to assist you in making positive changes in your life. A coach holds your space and does not judge you for past choices nor for what you are currently struggling with and definitely does not judge the dreams that you are pursuing.
In the presence of a coach, you can drop the masks and truly be yourself. A coach encourages you, challenges you and holds you accountable, so you are able to achieve what you want for your life.

A coach will often ask a lot of questions and listens even more. The conversations are purposeful and focused on you. A coach knows of a great number of exercises that can be used to support you to find clarity, increase understanding and to make the changes you want for your life. These range from simple but powerful reflection exercises to using systemic and breath work (exercises are always done in agreement with the client).

The primary function of the coach is to understand. Not to solve, fix, heal, make better or be wise; to understand. The magic is that it is in that moment of understanding that the other person understands for him or herself, becomes more aware and is then in a position to make better decisions and choices than he or she would have done previously.
Coaching is profoundly simple, and simply profound.

In short, when you engage a life-coach, you are inviting an expert that assists you in achieving your dreams and supports you experiencing life in an easier, lighter and more joyful way.
The results of this professional engagement are that you obtain more clarity on certain areas or challenges in your life. This will lead you to focus and dedicate your time to the things that matter to you. Coaching enables you to achieve the goals and dreams that you want for your life in a more effective and efficient way.
Coaching is for individuals that do not expect others to tell them what to do and instead take responsibility for their own lives and happiness. That doesn’t mean you have to figure it out all on your own. As a coach I committed to support and guide you in this process.
Attending life-coaching sessions can help improve relationships with yourself and the people around you. As you learn to recognize your triggers and limiting thought patterns and behaviors, it enhances your options to respond to them and you feel more empowered to make the changes that are beneficial for you. As a result, the energy and time that frees up because you are no longer constantly worried, ruminating, procrastinating and postponing, can be deployed to achieve great things and even greater happiness.

If you’re stuck or feel like you’ve tried everything but can’t seem to get unstuck – be it, moving up at work, being able to set and achieve goals, or even how to interact with different kinds of people in your life. Please consider 1-on-1 sessions with Ingrid. By the time we met, I was struggling to move forward on decisions I needed to make, or even understanding what those decisions are.
Ingrid’s practical sessions help me rethink my approach to how I navigate life. She guides me to explore possibilities I might not have considered. She’s an incredible person and really skilled at helping you see things from a different perspective – things that you can work on at your own pace. Strongly recommended

Ingrid worked with the SOMO-Africa team to create habits that would help in both personal and work life. She is an amazing coach who thinks about each individual and their path to creating a life that feels fulfilling to them. She knows how to work with diverse groups of people while still giving each person the individualized attention they need.
Would recommend her to any organization looking to assist their team in growing into their leadership potential.

If you are a CEO, Director, MD, Department manager or in any other leadership position, I would like to challenge you and ask you to think first of what engaging a professional life-coach can do for YOU. How can your transformation have a positive impact on your team?
When you are more aware of your emotions and triggers, of how your attitude or behavior can affect people positively or negatively , and you learn strategies that support you to make positive changes, what impact would that have on the workplace?
I want to believe that you have the best intentions for your team, however sometimes our best intentions don’t always translate, into strategies or behaviors that are conducive for our teams or individual team members. Having been in leadership positions for various years, I have also unintentionally deployed unconducive strategies. I have been able to transform those experiences in opportunities for learning and growth.
So before wanting to “fix” our teams, let’s have an honest look at our mindset and behavior.
Life-coaching can support you in developing trust in your team, improve your delegation skills, understanding how your behavior might trigger others and how other people’s behavior triggers your anger, frustration or fears. You can learn to better support your team and create safe spaces for them.
I am encouraged by the fact that increasingly more companies and organizations take the mental and emotional well-being of their staff serious. I applaud and affirm leadership for engaging in coaching themselves and extending the services to their teams.
Mental and emotional health are important in all areas of our lives. If we are dealing with personal challenges at home, it will affect how we operate in the workplace and if we are stressed at work, it will affect our relationships at our homes. It has an effect on our physical health as well. Offering life-coaching services at the work place can have a tremendous positive effect in many other areas of someone’s life. As such is it incredibly powerful and one of the most impactful services a company can offer.

Do you
- Have your team’s wellbeing at heart?
- Want to improve collaboration and effectiveness?
- Know of team members who are dealing with emotional challenges that hinder them in participating fully?
- Observe some of your employees are having a hard time creating a healthy work-life balance?
- Notice high levels of stress in the workplace?
- Have team members who struggle with setting goals and prioritizing?
Life-coaching can help with all of the above, but it is of utmost importance to get the needs of your team clear.
This will help with establishing if the best way forward is a group workshop or series or workshops, or if people would benefit more from private sessions.
Open Hearth uses various modalities to support clients depending on their needs and desires. You can choose to discuss your challenges, goals and dreams in private coaching conversations. We also offer private BreathWork sessions and facilitate a family constellation for you.
You can participate in group workshops or attend a retreat. We organize workshops and retreats that are open to the public as well as customized workshops and retreats for a private group or your team.
In the past year Open Hearth has created a lot of different spaces for people to come together. It has provided people with an opportunity to meet new, like minded people, share and discuss and have open and meaningful conversations.
We have done so through walks in the forest, sessions at the fire, morning – coffee meet-ups and much more. Check our event page for an overview of upcoming events. Events can also be booked for a private group or team.
Even though Coaching sessions have a structure and are conducted according to the earlier mentioned principles, there is no prescribed way of doing a session.
Every client has their own challenges, fears, dreams and pace to go through their learning and unlearning process and a coach facilitates this accordingly.
I will employ whichever strategy I believe is best for you at that particular moment.
I love outdoors and where possible I combine coaching with a walk in the forest or a workshop at a beautiful location. However, this is not a must and online and other in-person locations are available.

I especially liked the fact that we were talking while talking a nature walk, this gives one an environment to open up without the pressure and tension that is brought about by sitting in an office.
